Chadar Frozen River
Walk on the frozen Zanskar river through towering gorges in −25 °C. A winter expedition unlike any other.
Every winter, the Zanskar river freezes into a sheet of ice, the chadar, that has long been the only winter route for villagers in Zanskar. Walking on it between sheer canyon walls, with frozen waterfalls and nights in caves and tents, is one of the hardest and most memorable treks in India.
